Starring Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson and Billy Bob Thornton.
An ex-con seeks revenge for his brother's murder following a bank heist that went wrong. In the first 5 minutes of the film we see Driver (Johnson) talking to a judge but we hear what he hears and he blocks out the words and focus' on the sound of the clock the ticking and counting down to his freedom, the ticking fades and the next shot is him being released, he goes for a run which is followed by a tracking shot, it is a good shot from the side and back of him. So Driver has been out of prison for a matter of minutes and what is one of the first things he does? He gets his car drives to a business walks in past reception finds who he is looking for and shots him without a word, something tells me he likes prison food. So 10 years of prison and now he's looking for a couple of life sentences one thing I can say is that Driver does not do things by halves.
Whilst being hunted by the cops Driver also has to avoid being killed by an assassin who is meant to be one of the best but is somehow out run by Driver on more than one occasion, what assassin lets his target get away even once?
After failing his mission the assassin decides to hang up his gun and leave it for another person, yet his failure starts to eat at him and tear him apart, he breaks his promise to his wife to be and sets out to finish what he started.
Driver is on a serious mission to avenge his brother, he marches into a hospital where his target is already fighting for his life he just walks in to the operating room and shots him whilst he is being operated on then leaves. Cop (Thornton) follows him but is outwitted by Driver and as a Cop goes to turn the corner Driver is right in his face tension builds in this face to face moment with darkness around both characters suspense build as Driver decides whether to shot Cop, the electric flickers throughout the confrontation and both characters are one second lit the next in the shadows, this can reflect there characters as Driver wants to do good by his brother which is him in the light but him in the shadows is him currently doing bad by breaking the law. Cop can be seen as good and bad because he tries to do his job and be there for his son who craves his attention but he is a "dope" addict he uses drugs and uses any money he has to beg for some.
