Who would be the audience for your media product?

After creating my survey on survey monkey before making my thriller, I found out that that most of the people that took the survey and frequently visited the cinema where aged between 16 and 21 they are enthusiastic about films and enjoy seeing different genres. This also shows us that people under 16 did not go to cinema to watch thrillers as much as the other age groups, and this could be due to most thrillers involving violence, horror other elements of a thriller that draws the audience in and keeps them wanting more of the film  and that they could end up having a 12A or 15+ certificate on them.

Also by making this survey we found out through the same group of people, that different types of thrillers that were popular. The two most popular groups where Psychological and Action, which both had the same amount of votes, and were the majority of votes overall which both of these fall into the same types of genre that our thriller is based around. So we decided to incorporate these elements into our thriller to attract the ideal audience that already like these types of films in the hope that because they like these conventions they would want to see our film.

Ethnic minorites
In our thriller we did not use ethnicity to represent our film. This is due to lack of volunteers to be in our film.

Stereotypes
We have used the stereotypical female witch and also the stereotypical crazy blonde. This was intentional as we thought it went with our thriller well. We used a female as the victim as a stereotype that woman are weaker and more vulnerable.

Gender
In our thriller the two main characters are both female one being the antagonist and one being the protagonist. We used women to show the strength and power of a women to show that men are not the stereotypical violent antagonists or the heroic protagonists which you mainly find in films that men are the main characters. We used two females intentionally as our film is about witches and best friends.

Social groups
The females in our thriller are young, working class teens that are exploring life and having fun with other friends before things go bad. They don't follow any stereotypes upon young females or the working class, through the way the are dressed we can see that they are dressed for a casual occasion.

How does your media project represent different social groups?

AGE
My media product represents ages from between 13 to 18+. This is because it is a super natural type of film that involves best friends of that age, there is mild violence and our project plays more with physiological aspect of a thriller.

Sexuality
The sexuality in this thriller I feel is shown through homosexuality through the antagonist to the protagonist, which could lead to jealousy which kicks off the action, or a rejection on one part of the two women, also it could be a hatred of one because of their sexuality which leads to the peak in the thriller the plotting which leads to the demise. Typically when teens are in school, to be homosexual can be disapproved by other pupils, they might be bullied or find it hard to fit in.
