Brick has typical conventions of a thriller it has a dead body, it has an enigma which is the characters dilemma. The film uses flashbacks effectively to create a mood, it uses slow cuts and reverse shots to make it more interactive. The film contains no dialogue and has lots of non diegetic sounds. It uses a sound bridge of a bell getting faster and changing to a ringing of a school bell , the sound bridge is used to distract you from the dissolve from one shot to another. The camera work is that there are many close up shots of different things from an object to a part of the anatomy. The mise en scene misleads you into thinking it is calm because of the use of the colours blue, however you can see that it is not calm because you have seen a dead body in a sewer.
